Undergraduate Teaching
CHEM10016: Materials Chemistry 1 – The Material World (polymer strand)
CHEM20005: Materials Chemistry 2 – Materials for Energy (polymer strand)
CHEM30031: Materials Chemistry 3 – Material Interfaces (Polymeric Gels and Network Materials)

Postgraduate Teaching
AENGM0011: Nanocomposites and Nanoengineering
Description: This unit will introduce the fundamental aspects of nanomaterials in terms of materials properties, characterisation, processing, modelling and engineering applications. This high-level lecture series focussing on porous materials will introduce state-of-the-art materials, their current and envisioned applications, and their use in composite structures.

EMATM0051: Large-Scale Data Engineering
Description: This unit aims to give a comprehensive overview of elastically scalable and remotely-accessed “cloud” computing services such as those offered by Amazon, Google, and Microsoft, and associated technologies for dealing with very-large-scale bodies of data.

Past courses:

CHEMM0003: Functional Soft Materials (4th year MSci)
Description: This course focuses on functional polymers, in particular on microporous polymers and on conjugated polymer semiconductors. Starting from fundamental chemical concepts, this course will explore advanced functional materials with examples from current research on energy conversion and storage, on organic electronics and photovoltaics, to industrial processes such as gas separation or water purification.

CHEM30021: Advanced Chemistry Project; Context-Based Learning: A Sticky Situation (3rd year BSc)
Description: In this practical exercise, students will learn and apply chemical concepts in ‘real world’ situations. Mimicking a realistic industrial situation, the students are challenged to consider both science/chemistry and the context simultaneously. At the end of this module, students will have improved problem-solving skills, they will have learned to efficiently search for information about unfamiliar problems, they will have practiced to communicate scientific results to a broad audience, and experienced challenges pertaining to working as a team.

CHEM30019: Advanced Inorganic and Materials Chemistry – Polymeric Materials (3rd year BSc and MSc)
Description: This unit gives a general overview of polymeric materials, their principles and synthesis routes. It also covers analysis and characterisation of polymers, and advanced materials such as block polymers, crystalline and amorphous polymers, and their applications.

MENGM0059/60: Advanced Topics in Mechanical Engineering (postgraduate level)
Description: This unit is dedicated to the study of advanced topics in Mechanical Engineering, with the aim of equipping students with state-of-the-art knowledge, aligned with research topics in various fields relevant to mechanical engineers. Specifically, my contribution introduces the fundamental aspects of nanomaterials in terms of materials properties, characterisation, processing, modelling and engineering applications. This high-level lecture series focussing on porous materials will introduce state-of-the-art materials, their current and envisioned applications, and their use in composite structures.
