Keyue Wang from BCFN will carry out her project with us

We are very happy to welcome Keyue Wang who carries out an MSc in Nanoscience and Functional Nanomaterials with the Bristol Centre for Functional Nanomaterials (BCFN). She will investigate the properties of photo-responsive materials, either computationally or in the lab if access is possible. Welcome Keyue!

Callum Branfoot joins as PDRA

Callum will be associated with the team as a PDRA, working with the Bristol Composites Institute (with Prof. Ian Hamerton) in the development of high-performance polymers. He is currently finishing his PhD, jointly supervised by Profs Paul Pringle (Chemistry) and Ian Bond (Engineering).

Two MSci students join the team

Their final project will be like no other, we are nevertheless very happy to welcome Millie Burley and Harry Creak who will carry out their MSci project with us. Their project will likely not involve lab work, and will consist in a blend of literature research, proposal writing and honing presentation skills via the production

Wendy Tang joins us

We welcome Wendy Tang, a 2nd year PhD student co-supervised by Prof. Ian Hamerton in the Faculty of Engineering. Wendy’s project aims at reinforcing polybenzoxazines (a series of high-performance polymers with enhanced mechanical performance, flame and fire resistance) by incorporating nano-sized additives. This work is conducted in collaboration with the Bristol Composites Institute and is

Graduation time!

Time for socially-distanced celebrations as the first two students to carry out their final research projects have officially graduated with their MSci degrees! Congratulations to Stella Wang and James Davies, hopefully a time will come when we can gather and celebrate properly. In the meantime, good luck for the future and keep in touch! We

Christos Kouzios joins us for MSc project

Christos, based at the Bristol Centre for Functional Nanomaterials (BCFN) joins the lab to carry out his project in light-responsive materials. Initially mostly laboratory-based his project now includes design and modeling of materials to keep him busy till the labs reopen (fingers crossed)!
